At Sustain Afric farming is not a job, its a lifestyle.

OPEN FIELD AGRICULTURE,RISKS AND THE WAY FORWARD.

Open Field Agriculture Faces Different Kinds Of Risks .

1. Climate change risks .

Associated by low or high temperatures,Low or high rainfall, high wind ,high relative humidity and lightning.

2. Biotic risks . incidence of pests , diseases and weeds

3. Market risks . Increase in the cost of cultivation and variation in prices of crops

What is the way forward????

According to the Modern Portfolio theory, the probability of risks is maximum ( 100%) in monoculture one- crop agriculture),50% in two crops intercropping system and lowest in mixed cropping of 20 crops or polyculture.

Polyculture remains one of the ways in mitigating risks in open Field Agriculture .
