A non-governmental organization (NGO) is a non-profit group that functions independently of any government. NGOs, sometimes called civil societies, are organized on community, national and international levels to serve a social or political goal such as humanitarian causes or the environment.
Unfortunately, most NGOs are dependent on grant funding and individual donations to support their operations. As such it is important that we all support the local NGOs in our community in order for them to grow forward and also help achieve the roles in the community.
In the South West Region of Cameroon, there exist several NGO, ranging from those engage in humanitarian services, to health and also those involved in Agriculture. They include:
- Sustain Afric
- Reach out
- Environment and rural development Foundation (ERuDeF)
- HERO Cameroon
